I finally got around to framing this piece
of calligraphy of a John Muir quote that our friend Carol McCrea did
for Heather and my wedding. Only 35 years late. The frame is made from solid maple which makes it different from most of the other frames I have made because of its light color. It still of the craftsman style that Heather and I like. It's hard to tell from this image but the mat is dark brown. This will probably hang in our Manitou condo. (7/2016) |

I finally got around to
framing a print Heather has had for years. This frame is made from
Sapele, quarter sawn sycamore, lace wood and a piece of unknown wood
(that kind of looks like a mountain at the bottom of the frame) we got
in a surprise pack from Woodcraft. (8/2013) |

This is a mirror I built
with a combination of Stickley (through mortise tenons) and Greene and
Greene (sky lifts) design elements. It is made from solid mahogany and
has square ebony pegs which are hard to see in the image. It is
finished with amber shellac and wax. (8/2013) |

This is a huge frame I made for my friend Dan in
an
emergency. He needed his painting framed in a hurry so that is what I
did. This is the largest frame I ever made and I did it in one 11 hour
stretch of time. Unlike all of the other frames I have made, this one
is made from fir and is painted black to accent the painting. It is now
hanging in a golf course in Woodland Park. |

Here is a picture of the artist and the artisan
who made the
frame. |

I framed three stained glass windows for our
friends
Chris and Judith. Building a frame with a round bit had me scratching
my head for a while. The frames were made from white oak with black
walnut pins in the joints. The glass in the three stained glass windows
were from English churches bombed in WWII. |
