January 2025

It has been about a year since I last released a new CD so I thought it was about time. I have been somewhat busy in 2024 and early 2025 doing some new recordings which I present here. 2024 was a turbulent year for Heather and I and doing these recordings has help me somewhat. I hope you find something new here that you like.

For the most part I played all of the instruments used during these recording  (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, synthesizers and various percussion instruments) and sing most of the vocal parts in every song. My friend, Paul Douglass, played the percussion on many of these songs and sings background vocals on others. Chris Redd played lead guitar on some as well.

-- I want to make one thing perfectly clear --
I record these songs with total respect for the artists that wrote and performed them originally. I never have and never will try to make any money on these recordings. These songs cannot be sold for any reason because I don't own the rights to most of the songs. I record these songs for myself, my family and my friends only, never to make money.

It is best to listen to these tunes with headphones as that is how I recorded and mixed them.

Be Free
The title song for this CD as I have always loved this song and admired the musicianship.
This is a short version of the Loggins & Messina song that I never thought I could do, but I did.
Jim Messina
Catch The Wind
A song first released by Donovan in 1965. I've added some things to this recording that weren't in the recording originally. Hope you like them. This song brings back a lot of memories for me of my youth.

A great song from a talented singer/songwriter who was taken from us to soon.
Dan Fogelberg
Giving Up
A new tune I heard on the radio for the first time recently. This is the first recording with my new TLM-103 mic. Can you tell the difference?
Michiganders
You and Me
Paul played drums on this tune.

A response song to David Bowie's Space Oddity. Different from the original, this tune is guitar based instead of synth based though synth's do play a part.
Peter Schilling
Flowers
A new tune I just recently heard.
The 495's gave this tune the treatment with Paul playing drums and Chris whipping out a great lead guitar part.
